Vibraphonist Tim Collins is one of the most exciting young performers on the jazz scene today. His debut as bandleader, "Valcour," has received stellar reviews from dozens of publications since its release last year. Cadence magazine called it "a wonderful listening experience of topnotch original mainstream jazz" and All Music Guide critic Jonathan Widran wrote "Collins is an exciting player who chooses only to flash his energy in certain spots, but those moments are what makes this generally impressive disc worthwhile." Downbeat magazine is slated to have a review of the disc in its March 2008 edition. At just 30 years old, Collins has already taken part in Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead concert series at the Kennedy Center and his already impressive resume includes work with Christian McBride, Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra, Bobby Sanabria, George Cables, Joe Piscopo, John Ellis, Aaron Parks, Hilton Ruiz, Antonio Hart, Brian Seeger, Miguel Zenon, Buster Williams, Helio Alves, The Ronettes, Ingrid Jensen, George Porter Jr., Simon Lott, Harvie S., and Curtis Fuller.
