JPMC MUSIC INC. SADLY ANNOUNCES THE PASSING OF COMPOSER AUDREY SAINT MARTIN
JPMC Music Inc. regretfully announces the passing of composer Audrey Saint Martin, who died at the age of 76 in Palm Springs, CA on May 13, 2008 with her two nieces at her side. Audrey was the composer of the patriotic anthem "The American March (United We Stand)."
Audrey, a former New York City resident, composed "The American March" in 2001 shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. "The American March" was recorded by Broadway singer Walter Charles and a full military band arrangement and released by JPMC Records in 2002.
Audrey had a colorful, creative, and adventurous life. Audrey was born in the rural, apple-harvesting town of Kennewick, WA in 1932 and maintained a close circle of friends in Washington state up until the time of her passing. She attended the University of Washington's famed School of Drama and moved to Hollywood after graduation. A gold-prospecting expedition brought her to Central America in 1958, when she met her future husband, the Spanish-born bullfighter Armando Martin (a/k/a Armalita de España). The couple lived in Caracas, Venezuela until 1963 when the marriage ended amicably.
After that, Audrey moved to New York City, where she lived for more than 40 years and immersed herself in the city's thriving cultural and arts scene. Audrey also had many friends in New York City that she remained close with up until her final days. She lived on the city's Upper East Side and penned her first published work, "The American March (United We Stand)" as a direct response to the Sept. 11 tragedy. The song was also inspired by the soldiers who have risked or lost their lives so that we may all continue to enjoy the freedoms of this great nation, Audrey had said. A piano/vocal/guitar arrangement of "The American March" was printed by JPMC Books in 2002.
"The American March" was accepted into the U.S. Military Academy Band's Library in 2005. Treg Ancelet, Commander of the Academy Band at the time, commented that the composition was "full of patriotic spirit as well as a compositional integrity that reflect the best our citizenry has to offer."
Let's pledge allegiance to America,
Let's ring the bell of liberty,
And side by side, we will march in stride,
Arms linked forever free.
Let's proudly hail our fallen heroes,
Let's sail our flag in skies of blue,
And side by side, we will march in stride,
Arms linked, forever true.
from "The American March (United We Stand)"

We are pleased to announce the release of sheet music published by GlobeSound Inc. (ASCAP) for Val Galaktionov's new composition of sacred music "God, O Zion," which is available for SATB & Organ and SA & Organ. English Tenor soloist Brian Rodford says of the composition "the pace is very exciting. It is well suited to the nature of the text which is quite classic liturgcally. I like the way the organ, quite majestic, gives way to unaccompanied choral, returning once again to lift the voices to jubilant harmony, juxtaposed against unison sections. Magnificent finale!"
